Free Time Is Wonderful

This year is the year for laziness. It's senior year, and there is never a better time to kick back and relax slightly.  It's the greatest feeling ever.

But the thing about Senior year is all the responsibility that is placed on you're shoulders. All the college applications and the grades that you have to keep up so that you can go to the college of your dreams. Which is not where I will be going. I will be attending the Junior College of my dreams. I got no problem with that though because I get to go to San Diego. I spend more time there than in my home town because of water polo and volleyball, and I love it there.  There honestly is not another place I would rather be (other that Hawai'i and Japan, of course!)

Hopefully when I get my doctorate in English (or something like that) and I get to do what I love, writing, I will get the opportunity to travel the world and become one of those rich awesome grandpa that their grand kids brag about.  Ultimate life goal.

Peace, CA

Guess What Month It Is?

Oh, how I love the internet.  It gives us the greatest anything of everything that we could ever want.  We use the internet to make ourselves laugh, to console us in times of sadness, and to prove to ourselves that we are not some individual/insignificant person that will never make an impact on the world.

Not anymore.  The world needs your novel, and it's time to give it to them.

National Novel Writing Month is upon us, ladies and gents.  This month we are going to abandon all hope of a social life (or any kind of life for that matter) and put every ounce of strength we have into tapping away at the keyboard of your computer/laptop/tablet/what-have-you.  This month belongs to the go-getters, the up-all-nighters, and the crazy-coffee-lovers.  This month is your month, so know it while you have it.

You are marvelous.

Ready, Set, Write.

Its that time of year again.  Not Christmas or New Years, but National Novel Writing Month.  Its an amazing experience that is open to the entire world.  Writing an entire novel in 30 days is an impressive feat, and interacting with other novelists in places like the UK and India just gives you the feeling that you are never alone.  Ever.

Girls in Life

Anything for you, Beyonce!
Sorry dudes, but Beyonce was right....  girls run the world.  We guys have no say in what girls do, nor will we ever.  And we barely have a say in what we do as guys.  Women practically control our thoughts, emotions, and actions.  Sometimes, we're OK with being controlled, but not all the time.  I, for one, hate being used.  It's fucks with my self-confidence (which I find to be quite disrespectful), and is overall demoralizing.  I think the biggest problem with this (yes, problem, ladies) is that women and men try to constantly prove who is better when we all know that dogs are the best (kidding).

It obviously isn't our place to decide which is the better gender.  My opinion is out in the open, so feel free to contradict me.  I've got plenty of arguments, but I don't feel obligated to share.  It's too personal.

Music is Life

LOVE IT.
hate it.
For those of you that know me, then you know that my choices, moods, hell, my life in general is all affected by the music I'm listening to.  Metal when pissed, rap when pumped, country when calm, etc.(Shane knows.)

Lately, though, I've been trying out different online music programs, such as Pandora or Spotify.  I used to be a iTunes guy, playing the library and
getting bored as fuck.  Then I experimented with Pandora.  It was fun and interesting, and it introduced me to a lot of songs that I didn't know I liked.  This went on for quite some time, and I grew increasingly irritable when the good music that I had started with began to evolve into this shitty mix of stupid songs that just didn't satisfy my craving for the jams that I loved.

Story time.

This year I get to be a Teacher Aide to the chillest teacher in my school (or second chillest, I guess.)  Anywho, she is always playing music in her class, and she uses Spotify.  I had never heard of it but, after a few short days of playing DJ for the class, I learned of the awesomeness of this music player (I'm actually using it right now!) and downloaded it onto Google Chrome.  Now, I don't know how I survived without this gift from God.  Please, try it out.  I highly recommend it!

It's Time

Time is a pain in the ass.  Sometimes there's not enough time, other times when there's to much time. Time is almost as important to Americans as money (but not quite.)  In order to keep things short, I will say this about time...  It greedily consumes our lives. And we let it (not like we can fight it...),  but instead of complaining about our lost time, why not do something constructive with the time we have?  Spend time with someone special, give time to the animal shelter (been there, done that, highly recommend it!), or make time for a project that you've been putting off {again, been there, done that, but this time I had a result...  My totally wicked novel!  I'll put a link to it in a later post.)

As for me, well, it's too late for me.  I have, like, no time to do anything but waste it (actually, I have no time because I'm a lazy sack of shit, but I also have a very jam-packed schedule between sports, school, family, and whatever social life I can find.)

"Ask, though, and ye shall receive." Yeah, bullshit.  If that actually worked, then I would have all the time in the world to hang with my homies, play volleyball, and eat and sleep my way to obesity.

Putting the Nose to the Grindstone.

It's here!  Finally!  After all this time!  Yes folks, my senior year is upon me.  The summer was a river of constant motion, to describe it vaguely.  Between the Orange County week for water polo, vacation in Hawee-wee (Hawai'i, whatever.), then back in Orange County for Junior Olympics with water polo, not to mention a nuclear break-up four days before school ended, my schedule was jam-packed.

But school's back, and I am going on the straight-and-narrow path towards more blog posts and more girls. ;)  Rest assured, those two come before anything else (along with school, sports, and scouts.... Shit.)

Human "Perfection"

"To err is human, to forgive is divine ."
It's human nature to make mistakes, to forget important events/things/people, and to be cruel during times of stress. But under all of these critical human errors, we as a species must realize that not a single one of us is perfect or anywhere close to perfection. After all, who on this Earth know what the true meaning of perfection is, let alone what it should look like?

We all base our understanding of each other off our own internal definition of "the perfect friend" of "the perfect boy/girlfriend", and that sometimes can lead to mistrust, pain, and such a level of suffering that pushes people to the point of insanity (sometimes).

But it is not my position to judge what is and isn't perfect. I don't know. But what I do know what I as a person want and need, what will most improve the quality of my life.  My parents try to tell me "Think of other people first!"  While that that idea is all fine-and-dandy, if I think about making others happy, what becomes of my happiness?  Don't get me wrong, making others happy is a wonderful thing, but if I don't think of myself, it's not being selfish, just human.

But we can include others in our thoughts of self.  If another person improves the quality of your well being, then it is your duty as a human being to include and incorporate that person into your life as much as possible.  And if that person (soul-mate, if you will) feels that you improve their life and wants to incorporate you into their life, then you have found a relationship that is as close to perfect as any human being can discern.

Speed of Light

Why is it that this generation is so obsessed with immediacy?  For us to be satisfied, things must either happen quickly or not at all.  Many of these fast-response items are decision-based.  "Quick, this or that!  Hurry!  Aww, too late."

I believe that unrealistic movies and TV shows have created a culture in which we see things happening so quickly on screen, so we believe that those decisions (i.e. which girl to choose, which freeway is faster, etc.) can be made in the blink of an eye.  In all the rush, we forget what the purpose of our asking these questions truly is.  Why did we want that decision to be made?

I was taught by my parents at a very young age that if at first I don't succeed, I must try again until I achieve my goal.  But it seems as if kids are being told that "If at first you don't succeed, throw in the towel."  But why?  Is a slow response so bad that one must quit before a conclusion is reached?  Or is the fear of striking out keeping us from playing the game?

Volleyball+Me=Legen...wait for it... DARY.

If only my cat were this awesome... but alas, she is not.  So it is left to me to be awesome-er to make up for the rest of my family's inability to play the game of volleyball.

But of course, I cannot say that I am the greatest there is.  No, not by far.  The best on my high school team, however?  Oh yes.  Definitely the best.  Then again, saying I'm the best guy on the team is like saying one indentical twin is better than the other.  It's really not that much of a compliment, but I'll take it.

Ya Followin' Me?

Here's the lowdown...  remember back in '04, when MySpace was, like, the shit?  If you wanted to be anywhere close to the in-crowd, you had to have a MySpace.  Then around 2005 and 2006, Facebook takes the world of the bored teenager by storm, and has continually been on the rise.  Facebook has yet to face an opponent in the social media arena that could handle the amount of users the service carries.

Until now.

August 2009.  As FB sets out to monopolize the social media relm, a small blue bird steps out of the shadows and begins to peck away at Facebook's cult-like following.  The new craze?  Twitter, where you can share whatever's on your mind in less than 140 characters via "tweets" , retweet sayings and photos that can apply to your life, and also follow people around the world.  It's interesting and fun!!  If you don't have anything to say, or you think that the shit you say is stupid and boring, then you've come to the right place, because we Twittians don't give a shit!  We all say stupid, random shit about our lives!  (It's a very open community, much like a nudist colony, except we're not that extreme.)

So come see what all the excitement's about!!!

I Hate Emotions

They drive you crazy.  You're as happy as a clam one moment, the next you want to punch a wall.  The sad thing is, people, emotions run our lives like a fat dictator that will never be removed from power, no matter how hard you try.

And guys, if you think that you're emotions suck, wait till you hear about the ladies.

Best friends can become mortal enemies in seconds.  Lying to them could be the last thing you ever do to a girl or a girlfriend because they will be gone in a heartbeat (unless you can make up some bullshit reason for her to stay, or she really loves you [highly unlikely, from my standpoint, but I'm just a kid]).  The littlest things can set them off.

For example: *names have been changed to protect the dignity of the people in this demonstration*
Girl:  "Why are you talking to Jane all the time?  I thought you guys broke up months ago."
Boy:  "Well, we did, but we can still be friends, right?"
Girl:  "Oh hell no!  That bitch is long-gone.  You are with me now, ya hear, you dumb-ass motherfucker!!"
Boy:  "But we're just friends..."
Girl:  "Don't give me none of that bullshit!  If you want to talk with her so much then go fuckin' marry that fat whore-faced bitch!"
*This is when the girl starts to break down and cry.*
Boy:  "Babe, what's the matter?  Was it something I said?"
Girl:  "I love you so much, John, and I don't want to lose you to some fucking ex-girlfriend that you broke up with a long time ago.  I need you so much, the thought of you gone makes me want to scream!"
*Sobbing gets louder.*
Boy:  "Mary, I don't ever want to leave you.  That's the last thing I want to do.  I love you too, and I couldn't handle being single for longer that 5 seconds."

I think you get the idea.

My New Addiction.

Above is the catchy opening to the Japanese anime show, Bleach.  I can never get enough, and am already on Episode 6 after starting on Tuesday.  It is perfectly balanced with brutal action, gut-wrenching character development (in a good way.), and just raw awesomeness.  Originally aired in 2004, the show ended recently because, well, the story-telling was complete, and the brilliant Japs were not yet ready with a new plot.  I've been catching up through VizAnime, powered by Hulu (I love that word....  Huluhuluhuluhuluhuluhuluhulu.... ... hulu)
